COURAGE
Skaters learn how to handle the unknown with confidence. Many enter this program with zero skating experience or may have never been to an ice rink. Our program offers a whole new set of experiences which requires courage… to take that first step on to the ice, learn a new skating skill or perform in front of an audience. Learning to confront fears gives one the confidence to grow and tackle new challenges.
HARMONY
People skills are important. The ice rink is not just a sheet of ice, it can be a place of understanding and calm. By offering a space where skaters share community, this program teaches tolerance and interpersonal skills. These skills are necessary for success in school and beyond.
INDEPENDENCE
Ice skating is an independent sport. While skate clubs and hockey teams offer social opportunities, in the end it all comes down to the skater and the ice. Self-reliance is a life skill that can boost confidence and help set a participant up for greater success with employment and other pursuits.

PURPOSE
Everyone can make a positive mark in the world. Goal-setting is a huge part of ice skating. There is always one more skill to learn or test to achieve. Skaters will have setbacks. Learning how to recover from a failure is a key life skill that even many adults still struggle. Figure skating offers a unique way to ‘learn how to lose’ with grace and dignity.
